Mergers and Acquisitions
There are many challenges to completing a successful transaction – from choosing the right fit for your business, to negotiating and closing the deal, to integrating the business, to driving value from the deal. At Grant Thornton we’ve built a track record of standing with our clients in executing their M&A strategies – providing due diligence, transaction tax and other advisory services to help them hit milestones and reach goals across the entire transaction lifecycle.
Global trends in M&A
The Grant Thornton International Business Report (IBR) provides insight into the views and expectations of 12,000 businesses per year across 40 economies. Despite ongoing global economic challenges, this year’s results indicate that dynamic businesses have retained last year’s renewed appetite M&A and uncover a growing trend for cross-border deals, led by North American and BRIC economy companies – a factor that stands to create both competition and opportunity for U.S. businesses.
Some of our recent successes:

Planning for success from the start
We brought integration planning to the front-end of the deal to help a large, international health care NGO evaluate and acquire a similarly sized international entity, mapping out integration issues from the start to increase the speed of integration and optimize value once the deal was done.
Preparing a business for M&A
Our transaction advisory team helped our client, a U.S.-based company, conduct a comprehensive sell-side due diligence review in preparation to divest its chemicals division to an international strategic buyer.
Recapitalizing the business to fund growth
Our Corporate Finance group provided sell-side advisory services that helped a leading middle-market health care communications company find the right private equity investor to help them achieve their growth goals.
Serving clients on a global scale
Grant Thornton leveraged our organization’s global footprint to deliver cross-functional due-diligence services in multiple countries on a condensed timeframe. Senior members of the team brought attention to detail and hands-on support to meet our client’s urgent need to understand key value drivers and risks associated with the acquisition.
