Perkins named to lead Grant Thornton’s Technology Industry Practice

CHICAGO, May 9, 2012 — Grant Thornton LLP named Steve Perkins, 58, as the firm’s new Technology Industry Practice (TIP) National Managing Director effective immediately. Grant Thornton’s technology practice encompasses the software, telecom, life sciences and clean tech sectors.

As the TIP National Managing Director, Perkins will lead the U.S. team and will develop and execute strategies to assist technology companies grow profitability and manage risk. He will also foster institutional acceptance with the technology industry investment community.

Perkins has more than 30 years of experience advising clients on the most effective use of information technology across a wide range of industries. Additionally, he has developed and executed product and services growth strategies, specializing in software and technology services. Steve served in senior leadership roles with Fortune 100 technology companies, managing profit and loss, and building and leading teams for both domestic and international markets.

Perkins has a master’s degree in public administration from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Le Moyne College. He is a board member of TechAmerica and a past board member of the Commonwealth of Virginia Public Buildings Authority. He is also an active supporter of Special Olympics International.
