At Grant Thornton we strive to attract, develop, and retain the best and brightest people to serve our clients effectively and efficiently while fulfilling their career aspirations. Women at Grant Thornton focuses its efforts on developing programs and activities to enhance the gender diversity of the Grant Thornton workforce and mirror diversity in senior level positions at the firm.
The mission of Women at Grant Thornton is to enhance the recruitment, retention and advancement of women into leadership positions. The initiative is led by Erica O’Malley who serves as the national managing partner of women’s initiatives and programs and reports directly to our CEO. Erica is supported by a network of regional representatives and local office champions who cascade our programs and initiatives to our local offices.
The Women at Grant Thornton initiative focuses on the following objectives:
- ensuring a culture that enhances the retention and recruitment of women
- increasing the number of women in partnership and leadership roles
- increasing the awareness of women successes
- enhancing personal development at different stages of women’s careers
The initiative’s success to date has played a key role in the firm’s ability to win recent awards. For the past six years we have been named as one of Working Mother magazine's “100 Best Companies,” including Top 10 honors in 2009. Grant Thornton was also recognized in 2010 by the American Society of Women Accountants as the 2010 National Winner of the Foundation Balance award, and we received an award from the National Association for Female Executives as a Top Company for executive women. Vault.com also named Grant Thornton number one in its annual survey, “Best Accounting Firms to Work For” and number three in “Diversity for Women.”
